A Guide to Bukit Pasoh

Keong Saik neighbour Bukit Pasoh is home to some of Singapore’s most stunning shophouses, boutique hotels, and, as we recently found out, fantastic food and drink. We break down where to wine and dine on one of Singapore’s hilliest destinations.

Humpback

We’ve already been to this hip new seafood spot twice, so we can verify that the food is insanely fresh and the oysters are delicious. Opened by the same husband-and-wife team behind Jigger & Pony, Indra Kantono and Gan Guoyi, Humpback focuses on small plates like the mussels with pork belly and black cod, and hamachi ceviche accompanied by fine wines, bubbles and white spirit cocktails that have been designed to complement the cuisine. Our favourite dish is definitely the spicy cabbage laced with cheese and crunchy quinoa. Come by from 5 to 7 daily and you can slurp back fresh oysters for just $2 each.

OSO

OSO is one of our favorite go-to Italian restaurants because the food is consistently oh-cosi-buono (‘oh-so-good’ in Italian). The ingredients in the dishes here are sourced straight from Italy, which means your meals are guaranteed to taste like the real deal. It also doesn’t hurt that the menu items are prepared by head chef Diego, Chiarini who once held sway over the kitchen at the Four Seasons Hotel in Tokyo and Milan.

Helmed by Daiki Kanetaka, D. Bespoke is a Ginza style bar in the heart of Singapore. Take a step into Japan at the 28-seater bar and enjoy high quality cocktails tailored to your preferences, whiskeys and the cozy décor.

Flagship

Flagship, also by Kantono and Gan, is located in the 80-year-old Gan Clan Association building next to their other new venture, the above-mentioned seafood spot Humpback. It has a rough and tumble feel with bare concrete floors and neon lights, exposed brick walls, and plain wooden shelves housing over 100 labels of whisky and bourbon. In keeping with the unpretentious vibe, there are also simple bar bites on offer.
